Sales consultant, pandemic and child. Read here how Franziska balances it all and what she considers a good place to work.
Geospin: Where are you from?
Franziska: I come from Staufen, a small town south of Freiburg.
Geospin: How did you come to Geospin?
Franziska: After my parental leave, I wanted to reorient myself. I was looking for part-time positions with a focus on customer contact, and that's when I came across a job posting from Geospin.
Geospin: And what did you study?
Franziska: I studied Business Administration and Commerce at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach. I completed the obligatory internships in a publishing house where I got to know the different departments in a similar way to an apprenticeship.
Geospin: What is working in the pandemic like for you?
Franziska: To be honest, normal. When I started at Geospin in November 2020, topics like video conferencing and working from home were already widespread, both at our company and at our partners. I was thus directly trained in these structures and learned to appreciate the various possibilities.
At Geospin, we have a very good infrastructure, so that we have various possibilities to be in contact with our colleagues. And the missing coffee kitchen is replaced by a weekly joint virtual coffee break. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to meeting my colleagues in person again on a regular basis.
Geospin: What exactly is your area of responsibility at Geospin?
Franziska: My responsibilities at Geospin are divided into two parts.
On the one hand, I am a sales consultant, which means that I deal with everything from the first contact to the conclusion of the sale. We plan acquisition campaigns, guide potential customers through our online portal and conduct customer meetings.
On the other hand, I am a Customer Success Manager, so I take care of our customers even after closing. Especially at the beginning, I make sure our customers find their way around in the portal and answer questions about how to use and interpret it. I conduct feedback meetings and provide our customers with information on new data and functions.
Geospin: How do you spend your time after work?
Franziska: I spend a lot of time with my daughter in and around Staufen. We have the advantage here that we can be in the forest within a few minutes - the perfect balance to working at a desk.
Geospin: What is important to you in a workplace?
Franziska: Openness, regular internal meetings, teamwork and laughing together - that's essential for me when it comes to moving forward as a team.
Geospin: What do you appreciate about Geospin?
Franziska: Especially when it comes to structural changes, we often discuss the different possibilities in the team. I particularly appreciate the intensive exchange and the different approaches that arise in the process.
It also benefits us when we run into obstacles - there's always someone with a good idea.
Geospin: What should not be missing on your desk?
Franziska: My calendar and my notepad :) I like to use them the old fashioned way on paper the most.
